Ministries & Programs
Worship
We gather every Sunday at 11:00 AM to encounter the Risen Lord through singing, prayer, a children’s message, Scripture, preaching, and communion. Our congregation is enlivened by liturgy and follows with excitement the Christian calendar year. This means we cherish the seasons of Advent, where we celebrate and await Christ’s birth, and the season of Lent, where we prepare our hearts for the resurrection of Jesus at Easter. Our beloved choir engages in the Season of Advent by performing a Christmas Cantata every year.
Discipleship
We desire to learn how to follow and be formed by Jesus in our daily lives; therefore, we’ve created spaces of discipleship for all ages.
Growing children’s ministry
We have exciting Sunday school classes for the following age groups: Pre-K, K-2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade. Expect an adventurous VBS each year. Your children will be excited to come back to church.
Adult Discipleship
Adult Sunday School – Currently, a group of older adults gather to study a weekly devotional called “Upper Room” and our younger adults are discussing various topics for the Summer, such as prayer, God and suffering, and women in Scripture. Both groups gather every Sunday for spiritual formation.
Circle Groups – Our church has “circles” for our older generations, who gather for specific local mission projects and other meaningful activities.
Wednesday Bible Study – During the school year, an adult Bible study gathers every afternoon.
Fellowship
While our mission is certainly to glorify God, we also want to enjoy God. One of the ways we do this is by enjoying one another! We meet for a weekly meal on Wednesday at 6:00 PM! Also, look out for seasonal gatherings like our Ice Cream Social to kick off every school year, our Fall Festival and Easter Egg Hunt.
One of our priorities is to ensure that our aging folks are supported. Each month, we pack our lunches and eat it in the home of a congregant who can no longer make it to our property. We value our aging folks!
The first Wednesday is a get together around a steaming cup of coffee, called “Coffee Talk.”
United Methodist Men – Our United Methodist Men take on various projects throughout the year, such as grilling out for special occasions, a peanut fry in the Fall, and a golf tournament to raise money for a local mission in November.
Mission: Outreach
Weekly Partnership with Merrick-Moore Elementary through Backpack Buddies
- Each week of the school year, Fletcher’s Chapel sends 10 bags worth of food to children experiencing food insecurity. They receive enough food, snacks, and protein to ensure they are well-fed.
Urban Ministries Donations
- Every month, we collect food items, clothing items, and other things to be given to urban ministries, a local Durham mission that Fletcher’s Chapel helped start years ago.
Southern Football Ministry
- Every week, our own Jennifer Frazier packs a multitude of snacks to feed the Southern High School Football team during halftime of their games. Having done this work for over ten years, she is essentially a member of the team. Would you join in her work investing in the lives of local kids?
What next? Might you have a heart or passion that could begin our next sustainable outreach?
